jasmine hollingsworth
i'm a "self-taught" artist. i grew up in small town ohio where i was encouraged artistically by my parents. my father said he recognized my potential as an artist when i drew a picture of myself, looking at a picture of myself, looking at a picture of myself when i was 5.
i paint from emotion. my inspirations can come from many places: the colors of a drink as they mix in a glass, salt sloshed up on the rear window of my car after a winter storm, the color of my daughter's eyes...
my goal is to evoke a response from my audience, be it positive or negative, so long as it is not indifference.
i currently live near baltimore, maryland with my husband and daughter, kai.
kai was born with a rare disorder called biliary atresia. she received a liver transplant as a result of this disorder at 4 months old. today she is doing very well and our family is working to raise awareness for biliary atresia, pediatric organ donation and support for charities such as the american liver foundation. a portion of the proceeds from each painting sold will go to one of these causes.
